About the Role
Checkmark Tutorials is seeking a dedicated Engineering Tutor to help university students master foundational engineering concepts. You'll work with 5,000+ students across North America, providing clear explanations and personalized guidance in mechanics, statics, and physics. This role offers the flexibility of online tutoring, including both live sessions and prerecorded content creation, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on student success from anywhere.
Responsibilities
Teach mechanics, statics, and physics concepts to university-level students through a combination of live online sessions and prerecorded tutorial videos
Break down complex engineering principles into clear, digestible explanations that resonate with diverse learning styles
Create high-quality prerecorded content that serves as a lasting resource for students reviewing material
Develop problem-solving strategies and worked examples that help students build confidence and competency
Provide constructive feedback on student work and identify knowledge gaps requiring additional support
Adapt teaching methods based on student feedback and learning outcomes
Collaborate with the Checkmark team to ensure content aligns with course requirements and learning objectives
Maintain organized records of student progress and areas needing reinforcement
Qualifications
Proven experience tutoring or teaching engineering, mechanics, statics, or physics at the university level
Deep mastery of mechanics, statics, and introductory physics concepts
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical material accessibly
Comfortable delivering instruction in an online environment
Experience creating or comfort with learning prerecorded educational content
Strong organizational skills and reliability in meeting student needs
Passion for education and helping students succeed
Nice-to-Haves
Background in engineering or a related STEM discipline
Experience with multiple tutoring platforms or learning management systems
Familiarity with diverse student demographics and learning challenges
Additional expertise in advanced mechanics, dynamics, or thermodynamics
Experience developing interactive study materials or practice problem sets
